When children are able to make a serious decision like gastric bypass, it's sad. They seem to have no other choice. They are extremely depressed, many suicidal. What's the real problem with America's teenagers? First, many try to fit into the public's perfect image. The public portrays many young girls as sex kittens and men as hunks. America's teens are feeling this pressure to be thinner than ever.

It's not only killing them by eating disorders, but because it's something that most American's can't be. Many kids eat to comfort them. They may never be a size two, but they can eat until they just can't focus on their weight. Half of the problem is the media. The media turns celebrity children from confident and independent teens to hateful and emotional disturbed adults. They could be a size eight, and yet they are fat.

The average size of an American young woman is a size ten. Average size, but the media wants girls to be a size 0. There are celebrities who can't even fit into a size 0, because they are too thin. We have kids dying to be thin and in fact are dying as obese. The pressure gets to kids.

Surgery has so many risks, but children feel that they need to be thin as soon as possible. No one is supporting their dieting or workouts. Parents are allowing their child to go through surgery and for what? They are just going to take them to McDonald's afterwards. Instead of surgery, which can have serious complications and may cause your child to die, just chance the entire family's eating and exercise habits.

Kids are going through hell from the bypass surgery because they are tired of being teased. Many kids are at the point where they need to lose the weight or they will hurt themselves. It's sad that the public encourages such torture to a child who hasn't even gotten past high school. Many kids feel like prisoners in their body so they get the gastric bypass. Then instead of getting teased for being fat, they now are getting hassled for dropping too much weight. Weight is a battle that everyone has.

Maybe you're too thin; maybe you're too thick. The truth is, you can be heavier and healthy. All you have to do is eat a well balanced diet and exercise for an hour a day and stay active. Weight does not determine you health, however, it has been said that it does determine your attractiveness. However, you could seriously hurt yourself with the surgery. Many people find complications with their surgery and there is nothing they can do because it's forever.

Society should not allow the children to feel unloved because they are a bit heavy or make kids starve themselves to deadly weights. Bypass surgery is preformed everyday on a child, and no one ever thinks, "What is something happens". It's unhealthy for a child, yet the doctors do it. Whatever happens to using medicine to help others, doctor's oath?
